The first eight weeks of welcoming a newborn baby home can feel like navigating a whirlwind for many parents. Broken sleep, adapting to new feeding routines, endless questions, and feelings of isolation can be overwhelming, but help is available.

Recognising the unique challenges of this crucial period of bonding and development, Tweddle has launched a new program called ‘Getting to Know Your Baby’. The program is tailored specifically for parents of newborns and babies up to two months old.

Getting To Know Your Baby Day Stay Program

The new monthly Day Stay program, provided free of charge, will be hosted in Brimbank by Tweddle’s team of experienced Early Parenting educators. Families don’t have to reside in Brimbank to attend the service.

Between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm, families and their infants will have the opportunity to engage in candid discussions about parenthood. This will include a wide range of themes, from understanding newborn cues and understanding feeding and sleeping patterns, to exploring developmental milestones, bonding and attachment.

Conversations around introducing play interactions that promote healthy brain development will also be shared. The opportunity to ask additional questions and seek individual support will also be available.

‘Getting To Know Your Baby’ kicks off on Thursday, April 4th, and will continue on a monthly basis. Families will benefit from a blend of group sessions and one-on-one care and advice within a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental environment.

For Families with Infants from Birth to Eight Weeks

Unlike conventional parenting groups, Getting to Know Your Baby is tailored to families with infants from birth to eight weeks old, ensuring that essential support is available right from the start.

Our dedicated team includes nurses, clinicians, and early parenting practitioners who specialise in both early parenting and perinatal mental health and wellbeing.

With their expertise, parents can access support to help alleviate the anxieties commonly experienced by new parents and to build confidence in the parenting journey.

Transitioning from the supportive environment of a maternity ward to home can evoke a mix of excitement and apprehension. Recognising this, Tweddle’s ‘Getting To Know Your Baby’ program, offers invaluable support, guidance, and reassurance to families as they embark on their journey into parenthood.
