Consumer Representatives
Consumer Representatives
Tweddle invites you to add your voice and lived experience to improve the services we offer and the ways we go about supporting families.
About the Consumer Representative role
The purpose of the Consumer Representative role is to help us improve the support we provide to families by giving us feedback, advice and guidance drawing on your perspective of having used Tweddle’s services. This means bringing the consumer perspective to a variety of different activities and opportunities.
The role isn’t expected to represent all consumers, but to translate individual experience into suggestions about improvements that will benefit other families and carers.
There is no minimum time commitment and your involvement will be flexible. Being a Consumer Representative means we will keep in touch with you regularly and invite you to take part in various activities. You can decide which of these you would like to participate in.
Principles
Consumer representatives will be paid for their time and expertise and any costs reimbursed. Arrangements will be tailored in consultation with each individual.
There will be flexible options for participation including in-person or online. Accessibility requirements will be met wherever possible.
Tweddle will provide necessary orientation, support and development opportunities to meet the individual needs and aspirations of each Consumer Representative.
The role will develop over time and in collaboration including through informal and formal review and reflection.
Children are welcome at all times and in all spaces.
About the Consumer Advisory Group (CAG)
The CAG is made up of all Tweddle Consumer Representatives and a small number of other people who work in the Early Childhood sector and have a particular interest in our services. At least four CAG meetings are scheduled each calendar year. The meetings are an opportunity for the group to:
- Get to know one another
- Hear about what’s happening at Tweddle
- Reflect on the Consumer Representative role
- Discuss issues and ideas for improvement
As time goes on and the group develops there is potential for the group to become more actively involved at all levels of the organisation including the Board.
Examples of activities:
- Reviewing documents in preparation for quarterly CAG meetings.
- Attending and contributing to other meetings or forums, for example the Safety and Quality Committee and focus groups.
- Co-designing new resources or reviewing policies and procedures.
- Participating in employee interview panels.
- Participating in reflection and feedback activities in relation to the role and the CAG.
