A baby’s life from conception to age 2
Tweddle’s ‘The Importance of the First 1000 days from Conception to age 2’ workshop provides participants with knowledge, assessment tools and strategies to build and enhance their practice with families.
The first 1000 days covers the period from conception to age 2 years which is a period of incredible growth and sensitivity for the baby and toddler. What occurs in their relationship with parents/caregivers and their environment can have a lifelong impact on their physical and mental health and development.
In this workshop we discuss the following:
- Pregnancy and the growing baby
- The baby and toddlers developing brain,
- Building a healthy attachment
- The impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences, childhood emotional, physical cognitive development.
- Assessment and strategies for working with families.
The Importance of the First 1000 days from Conception to age 2 training builds and enhances understanding of the importance of early intervention and support to families during pregnancy and the first two years of a child’s life.

Beverley Allen
Beverley is a Maternal Child Health Nurse with an extensive background in family therapy, infant mental health and working with families from other cultures. She has been facilitating Keys to Caregiving training since 2005. Beverley is passionate about working with families in a strengthen based manner and providing families with knowledge and support to enable them to have fun together.
