Tweddle Child and Family Health Service is proud to launch its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2025–2027, our commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships, cultural safety, and lasting change.

Our launch day, April 4th, is Aboriginal and Islander Children’s Day, a reminder of how we at Tweddle have a role to play in contributing to First Nations children being proud in culture and being connected to kinship and Community.

This day is poignant as a reminder that First Nations children are overrepresented in Child Protection and currently can expect lower life expectancy than non-Aboriginal people. Something that has to change.

Our Innovate RAP reaffirms Tweddle’s belief that reconciliation begins with truth-telling and is sustained through action. It is built on the foundation of our first Reflect RAP and shaped by deep consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders, families, and staff, including Board Director and past Chair, proud Gunditjmara woman, Annette Vickery.

Strengthening Connections, Cultural Learning & Allyship

Guided by a dedicated RAP Working Group and aligned to Tweddle’s strategic goals, the RAP outlines key actions across four areas: Relationships, Respect, Opportunities and Governance.

This includes strengthening connections with local Aboriginal organisations and Traditional Owners, embedding cultural learning and anti-discrimination strategies across our workforce and increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and procurement.

Tweddle’s Innovate RAP is more than a policy. It’s a promise to walk alongside First Nations communities in allyship, to listen and learn, and to ensure every Aboriginal child and family has access to culturally safe and responsive care. We invite you to take a look at our Innovate RAP, illustrated by proud Bunurong and Palawa artist Kobi Sainty, and Dixon Patten, proud Yorta Yorta and Gunnai artist. We are grateful to Reconciliation Australia, and to CEO Karen Mundine for endorsing our Innovate RAP.
