Tweddle Welcomes A Return to Residential Care

By

Tweddle clinicians are delighted to be making a return to face to face services and the opportunity to once again work closely with babies, toddlers and their families. The residential program will be welcoming the admission of six families from 10.30am on the Tuesday 9th June. This will increase to eight families from Monday 22nd of June.

The decision was made in line with Departmental recommendations, and is underpinned by a commitment to the health and safety of families and staff. There will be an initial ratio of 1 staff to 2 families and staff and clients will receive daily temperature checks.

The move will be a great relief to struggling parents, after two months of telehealth consultations, virtual groups and online education. Tweddle will however continue to deliver Telehealth services, which have proven to be a convenient and successful service, especially for isolated mums and dads.

Tweddle delivered over 500 telehealth consultations during the transition to digital services, filmed a childbirth education class, delivered online parenting groups and saw an exponential increase of visits to its facebook page and website.

Over 50% of telehealth clients disclosed sleep and settling, challenging behaviour and mental illness as their main challenges. Over 10% said isolation, bonding and attachment were significant concerns.

Tweddle Director of Clinical Services/Nursing Kirsty Evans said the move to telehealth had been a huge achievement for Tweddle, building the capacity of staff and opening the door for more families to access its services into the future.

Tweddle’s re-opening coincides with Infant Mental Health Awarenss Week, an annual global initiative to highlight the distinct needs of babies and toddlers, and the need to invest in the services that support parents and carers in the early years.

Tweddle’s My Time, Childbirth Education and Working Out Dads programs will also be making a return to face to face delivery. Announcements relating to program updates will be made on Tweddle’s website program page and social media channels.
