National Families Week Highlights Strengths and Diversity

This National Families Week (15-21 May) Tweddle celebrates all kinds of families raising happy, healthy children. This includes rainbow families, extended families, blended families, single parent families, nuclear/immediate families and Aboriginal families.

Tweddle is all about relationships and helping families build a foundation of resilience, capacity and secure attachment in the first 1000 days. Families can provide a child with love and security through everyday interactions like affection, play, reading, empathy, responsive care, emotional regulation and routine.

In Aboriginal society, family is an integral part of a person’s life and provides a sense of belonging. Aboriginal culture enables families to connect to their land and their people, providing a strong sense of ‘family’ and ‘kinship’.

It also takes a village to raise a child, so from the Tweddle family to your’s, happy National Families Week, look out for each other and be proud of your achievements.
