Welcome to Tweddle > MyTime MyTimeFootscray My Time - Tweddle Supporting parents who have Children with Disabilities My time is a new service providing local support for mums dads, grand parents and anyone caring for a child under school age with a disability or chronic medical condition. Parents can socialize and share ideas with others who understand the rewards and intensity of the caring role. A peer support group engages parents and carers with similar circumstances, to make time for themselves have fun and share their personal experiences. Find out about available community support, gain knowledge and information on parenting skills. While children play, supported by a play helper. Eleni Matskarofski - Tweddle's MyTime Coordinator - spoke warmly of the first group last week. She was encouraged by the enthusiasm of the parents and carers. She said that the common themes and willingness to share experiences validated the need for the peer support group. A range of topics was discussed for future discussion and invited speakers.
The session was reassuring parents/ carers expressed sincere relief. Their uplifted chatter and interest extended beyond time with an eagerness to meet again next week.
Much delight this week parents arranging rides to help each other get to the MY Time group. Discussion about children's diet and behavior was the main theme this week, with parents initiating a guest speaker on children's diet.
