The Residential unit offers 2 to 4 day programs depending on the various issues parents are facing.
Emphasis is on parent's active participation throughout their program. Parents identify the specific goals they wish to achieve during their stay and staff work with parents to ensure that the strategies developed and used are appropriate and flexible to suit individual preferences.
The aim is to make parenting enjoyable for parents, so that they are confident and develop safe effective child rearing practices. Parents work towards achieving their goals through one to one interaction with staff, group education sessions, exploring parenting techniques, self directed learning and supported practice.
About The Residential Program
Welcome to Tweddle. Your stay with us will provide an opportunity for you and your family to explore any issues you are currently facing.
Parenting issues involve the whole family and we invite you, your partner or support person to attend.
The program is designed to assit you to achieve your goals. The program has 4 phases:
Exploration
Confidence building
Skill consolidation
Preparation for home
Tweddle recognises that each family is unique. We respond to your individual needs working with you to achieve your goals and we will be on hand day and night. Please make sure you arrive on time so we can start work together and gain maximum benefit from your stay.
In a typical day, we will work with you to develop confidence in your skills. This will achieved by observing you do the task and providing you with feedback and encouragement. Information groups are run everyday and you are invited to attend them.
You will have your own bedrooms - one for parents and one for the child, unless otherwise requested. The child's room will have a cot or bed depending on age and your request. Your room also has a security box to store valuables.
Health
It is important that all family members are well enough to participate in the program. Please notify us if you or your family are not well. Your booking will be rescheduled in these cases.
We know that some parents choose not to immunise their child/ren. If there is an outbreak of an infectious disease we will ask the family to leave the program.
