Most mums and dads will at some stage find parenting a bit of a struggle. And when you include factors such as mental health concerns, isolation, addiction, personal history, lack of support and financial stress, the struggle can become difficult to manage on your own.
Tweddle's social work service is available to families participating in Tweddle programs. The service commenced in August 2006 in response to research conducted by the Key Centre for Women's Health which identified the need for expert social support for many of our families.
The service offers support to parents experiencing difficulties or concerns about a variety of issues from adjusting to the changes parenting brings to your lives, to relationships, financial concerns, isolation, lack of support and managing child behaviour and stress.
Our experienced, specialised team offer assessment, counselling, intervention and referral out to existing community support services during their stay at Tweddle.
All adults attending the residential service are offered a consultation with a social worker. Staff will recommend a consultation with the social worker if they feel it will be supportive of the parent's situation.
Specific requests for the social work service for those not at risk are considered on a case to case basis. Tweddle currently does not take referrals from other agencies.
