professionals

As a result of the adoption of the Victorian Early Parenting Strategy all three Victorian Early Parenting Centres will move, over the next three years, to 100% of admissions by professional referral. Currently, 40% of Tweddle admissions are professionally referred.

Work has commenced on professional referral protocols and processes and these will be rolled out to health and community professionals from 2011.

Your referred families will be supported by highly skilled and experienced Tweddle clinical psychologists, maternal & child health nurses, early childhood professionals and Social Support staff. Our services and programs are accredited, accountable, responsive to research and evidence based. These hallmarks of professional integrity are subject to national accreditation.

Managing Postnatal Fatigue in General Practice

Tweddle in conjunction with the Parenting Research Centre and Pivot West presented a workshop for GPs and other health professionals focusing on post natal health issues for parents, wellbeing and fatigue.  The session included discussions about the effects of fatigue on parents mental health and referrals options that can support parents.   Participants were also encouraged to reflect on how postnatal health issues for mothers and fathers impact on their practice.  Tweddle is working to help strengthen the links between GPs and other local agencies.  We welcome feedback and suggestions for future workshops.  Tweddle employs psychologists that specialise in perinatal mental health and have specialist knowledge and experience to support families to enhance wellbeing and the parenting experience.
