Christmas has come early this year with a generous donation of 36 beautifully hand knitted jumpers from Fay Stankovich and Lorna Bannon. We give these jumpers to some of the families staying at Tweddle. Many are purchased by staff and the proceeds spent on children's art supplies. We would also like to thank IKEA for their much loved kitchen set which is proving very popular!Read more...

Sunday the 25th November is White Ribbon Day. White Ribbon is an organisation that works to prevent male violence against women. It is a male-led campaign that believes that most men are good and that good men abhor such violence. You really know when you’ve touched someone’s heart when you make them cry with happiness. Such are the emotions evoked by the wonderful art exhibition provided by students from Footscray West Primary School. Although some staff, children and parents from Footscray West Primary school had attended a Tweddle program, Children’s Week 2012 officially brought the two 90 plus year old community institutions together.Read more...

Tweddle is proud and excited to team up with the students and staff at Footscray West Primary School to celebrate Children’s Week. (Oct 20th-28th) Tweddle approached Footscray West Principal Brendan Millar to see if they would consider donating some children’s art to brighten the Tweddle living spaces. The overwhelming response produced over six weeks of hard work by art teacher Susie Belcher and her students, producing 30 amazing paintings, dream catchers and papier mache families inspired by family and diversity.Read more...

A recent Monash University Jean Hailes Research Unit study into the Tweddle Day Stay Program printed in the International Journal of Mental Health Systems examined the health, social circumstances and presenting needs of 115 clients attending the Tweddle Day stay Program. The study looked at parents with infants under 12 months old and assessed the parent mental health and infant behaviour outcomes and factors associated with program success. World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy. National Child Protection Week aims to engage and educate all Australians to understand they have a part to play in keeping our children and young people safe from violence, abuse and neglect. NAPCAN (National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) supports and promotes community-led prevention through strengthening the voice of community Tweddle honour the work done by all child protection staff, as well as our own PASDS staff (Parenting assessment and skills development service).
