Inquiry Gives work of Tweddle and Early Parenting Centres the thumbs up

Tweddle congratulates Government and the Protecting Victoria's Vulnerable Children's Inquiry Panel on its comprehensive report and vision for systemic change to better support our kids.

Tweddle Chief Executive Officer, Vivienne Amery is very encouraged by the report's findings. " It is particularly pleasing to see recommendations supporting Tweddle and Victoria's early parenting centres. Tweddle welcomes further support from Government to help us to provide further therapeutic services to more vulnerable families living in outer Melbourne, and in regional and rural Victoria."

"There is a strong emphasis on regional and area based service support, integration of services and streamlining of access and support, both at government level and between and within community and health services," she said.

"The panel has identified a number of areas to enhance the integration of specialist services such as Tweddle with the broader community services that support children and that can only be considered a great thing for both parents and children," she said.
She added, "One of our organisational priorities into the future will be on parents with pre-existing challenges such as homelessness, drug addiction, alcoholism, gambling and violence and the services and programs we can provide to remove gaps and ensure early intervention. We look forward to working with Government further to achieve this."

Tweddle is a not-for-profit early parenting centre. It's team of maternal and child health nurses, registered and mothercraft nurses, psychologists, lactation consultants and early childhood professionals provide support to over 4,000 families for concerns ranging from sleep and settling, to challenging toddler behaviour, lactation support, mental illness and isolation.
